Oak Grove Primary School became a Whole School in August 2000.  We received grant funds to successfully use the arts as an avenue for promoting high quality instruction in all subject areas.

The arts--drama, music, dance, and visual arts--are used as a springboard to tap into each child's multiple intelligence.

This initiative helped our school secure district funding to hire a full-time music and visual art teacher.  It also encouraged us to create our "Studio for Young Artists" for visual and performing arts.

Teachers have attended the week-long art institute as well as two arts retreats held in the spring and fall.  Through this training teachers have been able to gain valuable knowledge in arts-infused instruction, artistic awareness, and other resources available at the national and state level.

The process of implementing the Whole Schools Initiative is evident throughout our campus inside and outside our classrooms.
